Gracie's Story

I finally uploaded the video that accompanies this older post. I thought Gracie's story was really sweet.

The Dogs of April

I'm finally getting back to my blog. I wanted to do it sooner but I didn't have the time. I met Sheryl last Saturday walking on the ditch. She was with Poppy and I asked her about Wiley. She told me that Wiley was at home healing from an attack by two pit bull dogs that happened the previous day at Dietz Farm Plaza. Many of you know Wiley from my calendar Life is a Ditch. Wiley is the feature dog for January. I've been thinking a lot about Wiley. I hope he is on his way to a complete recovery and that I'll soon see him walking on the ditch with Sheryl and Poppy.

I met some new dogs this month. Daisy recently moved here from Denver. Bonnie was visiting from Rio Ranch. Two adorable poodles, Cordy and Joey were taking a walk with their sitter. Rumi was strolling with his owner last Sunday.

Additional Stores Selling the Calenders

There are some new stores selling the calenders, Life is a Ditch and Enchanting Views of the North Valley. The following stores are selling both calenders: Whole Foods, New Mexico Tea Company,
and Miller's Feed.  Ambiente and La Parada have Views of the North Valley for sale.

Thank you to all those people who made yesterday's event at The Rio Grande Co-op a success.

Late Autumn - Day Before Thanksgiving

Last Sunday started with rain and an overcast sky. Then the clouds parted and the sun came out. It seemed like everyone was out taking a walk on the ditch. I met a woman with her two black labs. One of them was carrying a branch in its mouth. It was an amazing sight. He posed for me and then eventually had to put the branch down because it was too heavy. I remembered that I had seen this woman with her three labs (two black and one brown). She said her brown lab had passed away. I had always admired the way this woman could run with her three large dogs. It was nice to see her again and to finally meet her.
Later in my walk I met another woman who I knew a few years ago. I had always wondered where she had gone. She informed me that she had to move away for family matters and had just moved back to Albuquerque. She had her two adorable dogs with her and was happy to pose for me.
I've included some photos that I took in October.
I'm still seeing new dogs almost everyday on my walks.

Cranes and Horses

This morning I took my daily walk as usual. The farmer had mowed down several rows of grain in the field. There was a nice group of cranes grazing in the field. I took several pictures. Further on I sighted a lone crane grazing with a large group of canada geese.
For the past few days I've photographed horses grazing in a field bordering the ditch. I always look forward to this pastoral scene.
