Early Evening Views

When I arrived home at 5 PM the clouds over the Sandias were beautiful. I ran into the house and got my camera. I took the first photo around 5:15. The next picture I took around 6:00. On my walk I took several photos of the view to the west, around 6:30. By then the moon was out in a pastel colored sky.
It was the perfect evening.

Over the Rainbow

Around 5 PM today there was a lovely little rain shower. While it was still raining a rainbow appeared. Over the field a flock of birds was circling. It looked like they were flying over the rainbow which reminded me of the Wizard of Oz. It was a magical five minutes. Then the rainbow faded away. I took a walk with the dogs on the ditch. When I returned the clouds obscuring the mountain had disappeared.

Dogs Are Ambassadors of Love

Last Saturday I went on a three hour nature walk.  My intention was to take pictures of the changing landscape and wildlife along the ditch. I kept meeting new people taking a walk with their dogs. Judy told me that when she turned 60 she decided she didn't want jewelry or a trip, what she wanted most was a dog. Her dog Rio is a dream come true. It is obvious from the photos that Rio is devoted to Judy. Sandy, a pet sitter and dog walker, was walking Sophie who belongs to Kim, her client. Sophie is a two year old lab mix. Her coat was very soft and her expressions were adorable. I fell head over heels in love. I've passed Dennis and Dominic several times walking their Westies Solo and Ecca. Their dogs seem to love the water. All four of them were on a power walk and I felt guilty stopping them. Today on my walk I met Joni walking her dog Indy whom she adopted six months ago from the west side pound. Indy was full of ticks and his fur was all matted. They had to shave him and it was the month of January. Now Indy's coat looks beautiful and he is a very happy and affectionate dog.
I love hearing all these wonderful dog stories. I like to think that all dogs are ambassadors of love. They open our hearts with their devotion. They are our best friends and loyal companions.
