December 10, 2011 Acequia of Lights

Last Saturday, December 10th, I attended "The Acequia of Lights" behind The Holy Family Church at 562 Atrisco SW. There were over 1,000 luminarias, Christmas carolers and food. There was also a beautiful moon. The event put me in the Christmas spirit. Below are a few pictures.  Here's a website about the event: Ditching the Yuletide.

I've been taking pictures since I was a teenager. I've always been amazed by the beauty I see around me. One of my favorite poems "In Beauty May I Walk" exemplifies what I see and feel when I photograph.

In Beauty May I Walk

A Navajo Poem

In beauty may I walk
All day long may I walk
Through the returning seasons may I walk
Beautifully will I possess again
Beautifully birds,
Beautifully joyful birds
On the trail marked with pollen may I walk
With grasshoppers about my feet may I walk
With dew about my feet may I walk
With beauty may I walk

With beauty before me may I walk
With beauty behind me may I walk
With beauty above me may I walk
With beauty all around me may I walk
In old age, wandering on a trail of beauty, lively, may I walk
In old age, wandering on a trail of beauty, living again, may I walk
It is finished in beauty.
It is finished in beauty.

I am grateful for all my blessings. I'm blessed to be living in the North Valley of Albuquerque, New Mexico. The view from my window inspires me. I'm in awe of the ever changing landscape. The light in New Mexico is magical. The beauty of this landscape is enchanting.

With this blog I hope to share the beauty I see and feel. I also want to share the sounds of nature that I experience when I'm outside. I will also share special moments and inspirations.

Here is one website that analyzes this poem:  The Wondering Minstrels.
Another website about beauty is With Beauty Before Me.
